Introduction and Speciality:

Dr. Lakshmy Ravi Selvaraj is Consultant and Director of Shri Lakshmi Clinic and Scan Centre, Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu. She has been practicing ultrasound over the last 20 years at Kaveripattinam and is one of the leading pioneers in the implementation of prenatal screening in a rural setup. She has set her practice in and around the Krishnagiri district catering to the needs of antenatal women in a low resource setting.

In the last few years, Dr. Lakshmy Ravi Selvaraj has authored numerous insightful papers in the field of prenatal ultrasound diagnosis and has published over fifteen papers on the first-trimester evaluation of the fetus. Her specialty lies in the first-trimester evaluation of palate and she has published over six detailed articles on the sonographic evaluation of palatine clefts.


Qualifications:

  • M.B.B.S., at Govt. Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College.Salem, Tamilnadu

  • Trained in ultrasoud at Genesis Scans by Dr,Udayakumar.

  • Trained in echocardiography at Narayana Hrudalaya Bommasandra, received accreditation from Indian Academy of Echocardiography.

  • Trained in 3D/4D ultrasound under Prof. Rabi Chaoui and Bernard Benoit at Mediscan.


Experience:

  • Over 20 years of practicing ultrasound in low-resource settings.

  • She has delivered lectures and conducted 3D workshops in various National and International conferences.

  • Guest lecturer at Radiology department in Vinayaka Missions Kirupanada Variyar Medical College and Hospitals, Salem. 2015-17.

  • Faculty of Ian Donald Interuniversity school of ultrasound, Tirunelveli.



Publications and Work:

  • Dr. Lakshmy Ravi Selvaraj wrote “First-trimester evaluation of palatine clefts - a novel diagnostic approach”, published in the AIUM Journal of Ultrasound in Medicine.

  • She authored “Absent superimposed line sign: a novel marker in early diagnosis of the secondary cleft palate”, published in the Journal of Ultrasound Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

  • Her work on first-trimester screening for preeclampsia in low resource settings has been highly resourceful and appreciated in the global forum. The Journal of Maternal-Fetal and Neonatal Medicine has published the work as well.

  • Seven papers in 28th world Congress of ISUOG held at Singapore, four research papers along with an invited presentation in 29th world Congress of ISUOG held at Berlin and five academic papers in 30th virtual ISUOG Congress: these are some of her most notable and recognized work.



Achievements and Awards:

  • She was awarded the ‘Best Outgoing Student Award’ in Govt. Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College. Salem, Batch of 1993 and she is the recipient of Dr. Venkoba Rao gold medal and Dr. Murugapandiyan gold medal in medicine.

  • Dr. Lakshmy Ravi Selvaraj has won the award for the best paper presentation at the National Conference of Society of Fetal Medicine, thrice.

  • She has presented first trimester evaluation of the palate at 12th FMF world congress at Spain.

  • She has presented eight awarded papers in the 11th International ISUOG Symposium.

  • She has authored seven awarded papers in the 13th Asia Pacific Congress of maternal-fetal medicine.
